Val Dyshlov was born in Siberia, where there are frosts, white snow and brown bears. For his 5th birthday parents by mistake made him a present of color pencils and watercolor box. Since then, one of their kids started being passionately fond of drawing and painting everywhere on whatever happened on his way.

First lessons in drawing and oil painting he took in a private school. Excellent teacher and great artist Vitaly Lenchin taught him. In 1979, Val earned Master of Fine Art degree in Graphics from Art School in Kharkov, the second largest city in Ukraine. Later he taught drawing and headed laboratory of Graphics in his alma mater.

He was accepted as a member of Union of Artists in 1982. From the middle 70s, Val actively exhibits in city, regional, and national group shows. Since 1995, he has been living and working in USA, where he at once started showing his art in various galleries. Soon, well-known collector of Russian underground art Norton Dodge noticed his works, and acquired a lot of graphic pages and oil canvasses. Part of them is in Rutgers University Museum.

Val possesses brilliant skills in all kinds of graphic art; in 1985 he came back to oil painting and achieved a lot of success in it. As he used to do series in graphics, you can see the same trend in his beautiful oil paintings.

Many of his artworks are in Ukrainian museums, and in private collections in Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, Canada and USA.
